THE ULTIMATE
Today was It's a Crime Not To Read (ICNR). We heard Constable Suzanne read some great books and asked her some questions about being a police officer. Then we spent some time picking out some books. Many forgot the books they signed out last month at home so please bring them back as soon as they can. We practiced logging on to the laptops to access Google slides. Some of our Grade 6 Buddies helped us. We are looking for images of Inuit Life to create a presentation. If you ordered photos please check your child's backpack as they were sent home today.

Thank you to all of the parents who were able to come in last Thursday and Friday for interviews. If you were not able to book a time I would be more than happy to meet with you during a time after school. Please email me at: [email protected] to book a time and day.
Tomorrow is the next It's a Crime Not To Read day. If your child still has these books at home please send them in their backpack so we can return them to the public library staff when they come here for our visit tomorrow! Today we explored thermometers and started to learn how they work. We will be talking about and comparing various temperatures in celsius this week. We learned that the term cold really means 'a loss of heat'. Today in Social Studies we used books to see how Inuit Homes, Clothing, Jobs and Tools were in the past and how they are today. Tomorrow we will use the laptops to see if we can find more information.
In Science we are beginning our unit on Hot and Cold In our Storytelling unit we listened to Robert Munsch read his story called A Promise Is a Promise. It is based on stories the Inuit would tell their children to keep them safe from the ice. We thought it was interesting and a little creepy! A reminder that Parent Teacher Interviews are tomorrow evening and Friday in the daytime. There is no school for students on Friday. A reminder that tomorrow is Library Day. Friday is 'Future Day'....students are invited to come to school dressed as what they would like to be when they grow up! Today we started our Storytelling Unit. Attached is the weekly update from Mrs. Fraser:
Today we had a wonderful presentation from Calgary Opera! The production was a version of the story of Pinocchio. Students and adults alike were entertained by the acting and singing!

In social studies we are exploring the various Landforms and learning to identify which ones we see in Alberta as well as Iqaluit. We had a wonderful morning of honour and respect and messages of peace with our Remembrance Day observation today. Students created beautiful artwork this morning and then we took part in our school assembly.
We had a game show quiz of our Words of the Week (2 weeks really) so that students know which words to focus on next week. Have a great weekend! Our Words of the Week are:
