THE ULTIMATE
What a wonderful day! We had such a variety of creative costumes and we enjoyed learning with a Halloween theme! We did word work through word scrambles and word searches, creating pictures using a 120 chart. We also made puzzles using the Do's and Don'ts of Trick or Treating. Our school-wide Costume Parade was a big hit as well! For those out trick or treating tonight - please be careful and have fun! Student photos are in their backpacks today.....orders need to be in by Nov. 8th! A reminder that tomorrow is Library Day Attached is a message from Mrs. Fraser!

What a wonderful and busy day!
We had a fire drill this morning! Words of the Week are the same as last week....plus we are working on some pumpkin and Halloween words with our writing! Speaking of Halloween... here is an update! Mrs. Fraser sent out a message regarding Halloween at school but in case you missed it here are the highlights: Students are to come to school already dressed in their costumes if they are going to do so. No school time will be given to get into costumes. Since they will be in them all day, and we are continuing our learning day, please be sure students are able to move about easily. We will have a school-wide costume parade shortly after lunch! Today we had our Public Library visit with It's A Crime Not To Read! We had a wonderful time! Please ask your child for the highlights! Today was Library Day.
There is a yellow letter to parents in student backpack. It is a reminder of our walking trip to the Public Library on Monday afternoon. Keep your fingers crossed for nice weather! A reminder that tomorrow is a P.D. Day and therefor no school for students. Ask about our Inuit Artifact exploration today! As you know, Halloween is next week on Wednesday! Students are invited to dress up in costume in the afternoon only. We will spend some time on Halloween themed learning activities! Please see the letter below regarding the grade 2/3 walking trip to the library for our It's a Crime Not to Read visit on Monday, Oct. 29.
Our pumpkin seeds dried overnight so we were able to count them today. Each group decided whether to group them in 5's, 10's, or 20's. Ask your child how many seeds were in their group's pumpkin! Today was library day....(I forgot to put a reminder in yesterday's blog!) Tomorrow is a short day.....no lunch! This afternoon we explored the insides of our pumpkins to see what they look, smell, feel, taste and sound like on the inside. We also scooped out all of the seeds. Tomorrow we will find ways to group them to make counting easier. We read that for each line on the outside of the pumpkin there is a row of seeds on the inside. Therefore, we think that the pumpkin with the most lines should have the most seeds! We will find out!
We were very lucky to have our class photos early in the day - everyone looked lovely! Many students exchanged their Home Reading this morning but some said they had left theirs at home...we are hoping to have everyone reading each night and bringing their books back each morning. The exception is for students who are reading novels and need a few nights to complete it. These students can simply record the page numbers in their nightly read.
We ended the day with the prize that Mrs. Fraser had promised our class! I instructed students to take it home and enjoy it there. Please remind your child to make sure their home reading book is in their backpack to exchange each morning.
Also, a reminder that Monday is Photo Day! Have a great weekend! |
